Kevin Flynn
Parliamentary Assistant/Minister of Labour
Kevin Flynn, Liberal MPP for Oakville, is a long-time community volunteer,
a successful businessperson and a dedicated dad and husband.
Kevin is described as thoughtful, determined, and committed to important
issues. He has served Oakville as Town Councillor and Halton Regional
councillor since 1985, winning six consecutive elections. He has been
active in the community as president of the Halton Children's Aid Society,
working with Big Brothers, and coaching minor sports.
Kevin's politics reflect his values.
As an elected representative, Kevin has demonstrated that fiscal accountability
and social responsibility can go hand-in-hand - that you can invest
in critically important public services and still balance the budget.
Kevin is a natural community leader, knows how to listen and has earned
the respect of his peers. He has served as chair of the Town of Oakville
Budget Committee and chair of the Administration and Finance Committee
at the Region of Halton. He also served as chair of Financial Development
for the Royal Botanical Gardens.
Kevin is steadfast in his desire to see Oakville preserve at least
some of what remains of its precious and dwindling green space. He understands
the pressures of urban growth but has consistently voted to preserve
and conserve, not aimlessly build and build.
Before being elected as MPP, Kevin earned his living as a self-employed,
Oakville-based businessperson. He understands bottom lines, the impact
of high taxes on small business, and the difficulties of operating a
business in a changing economic climate.
Kevin and his wife Janice chose Oakville as their home more than 25
years ago. They have been married for 27 years and have one son, Nigel.
